Paris Kisses: 4th in a Week of Love Poems

Top steps, le Metro
A bedroom kiss.
Paris Kisses
On the Champs-Elysees,
On the escalier,
On line at L’Orangerie,
The Tuilleries, on the quay.
Kisses.
It is a greeting, a sign, what’s done:
Part of the landscape, as ancient as barky tree,
They’re kissing on Rive Gauche, the Ile St.Louis,
Those kisses light the lights
Shimmy up the Tour Eiffel
Turning hard steel into giant sparkler
Pulsing with delight, burning with joy.
Kisses light the bateau sailing on soft curvature
Of ink black Seine throw off
Orangey, warm reflections.
Paris kisses. The embrace,
The sensual meeting.
The Paris kiss is hello, goodbye and
Anything in between.
It’s catching, it’s contagious.
It’s divine.
So don’t just there, mon cher!
Start the street fair,
The praying, the vigor, the leap,
Start that engine to roil
The blood, the veins to boil
Start those birds to singing
The flags to swinging
Start that sweetness, all that’s delicious
Start the drinking, the eating, start those
Paris kisses!
